Love from Seattle!

Welcome! This blog is for the lovely postsecreter who sent in the postcard to my left. I've gotten a few emails from a some great people in the PostSecretCommunity who would like to participate in a blog for the person who sent in this secret. We want them to have some love for when they finally do arrive home.

I want this blog to be more than just "thank you for serving our country," although that is definitely something we should mention. I really think these entries should be written like they would if they were someone we really knew; info about our daily lives, about school, work, how things are going at home, anything and everything you are willing to tell. I want to thank everyone who wants to participate, and wish you all happy blogging.

Okay, so first off and foremost, thank you. Whatever made you decide to go into the navy, thank you. It takes a lot to do what you've done, and I know that bootcamp can be a real bitch. Less than six weeks, right? It's almost over! I'll be at your graduation in spirit. :]

Well...Hmm..Where to start. My name is Kayla. I'm a 17-year-old college and high school student from Seattle. I'll be 18 in June, and I am very excited. That's me to the right (look at them chubby cheeks!). Hopefully I'll be going to UW in January of next year, but who knows? *crosses fingers*

Right this second I am watching E.R. No joke. I had to skip my one class at the high school today because our car isn't working, and I'm procrastinating on my college online classes, so daytime TV is a savior. I was supposed to work today, but in a devastating kitchen accident, I think I broke my pinkie toe. Again. :[ And I'm a huge baby, so I called in and someone's covering my shift. I really hate my job, anyway. I'm a barista in a supermarket Starbucks, and my bosses always have a bug up their butts, so any chance I get to miss work, I take it.

I hope things are going well for you. What do they let you guys eat there? I bet you miss home food...And I don't necessarily mean home-cooked-meals, but things that remind you of home. For me, it's Slurpees and sunflower seeds. Actually...That sounds pretty good...Hm...Do you even like Slurpees? My mom craved them her entire pregnancy, so it pretty much runs in my blood.

I really hope you find this blog when you get home, and it gives you at least a little bit of happiness knowing we were thinking of you. Anyway! I'm done talking. I'll write again soon. Welcome home!!!!

-Kayla

I was in the Army, something similar happened to me. Pick it up and Drive on. Train hard, it helps keep your mind off it. After Boot, get shitfaced.

Hello! My name is Rachel. I'm in Texas right now. I know what its like to be away from everything you know and love...I know what its like to walk into something completely unlike what you expected. Its hard to transition into another stage of life. But, I wanted to send you a little encouragement. I want you to know that I am so proud of you. Whatever your reason for going into the Navy...know that you are respected. Know that people think about you everyday. You aren't alone. It may seem like it...but you aren't. I am so grateful for your decision to defend and protect the rest of us. You're my hero!
